Dr. José Carbonell Casasús
DR. JOSÉ CARBONELL CASADESÚS
After training at the prestigious University of Medicine of Navarra and doing an internship in surgery at Harvard University, Boston (USA), Dr. Carbonell moved to London where he specialized in Psychiatry and became part of the British Medical Association and the Royal College of Psychiatrists of London.
Subsequently, he completed his training in England with a Master's in Research and Theory in Psychiatry from University College London.
During the first years he worked in multiple London hospitals in areas as varied as Neurology in the Royal Air Force, Adult Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry and Eating Disorders Units, in hospitals associated with University College London, where he also devoted part of his time both to training medical students and to research.
After completing his training in London, he took the reins of the private practice that his father Dr. Jaime Carbonell started in Palma in 1961. This is how the Carbonell Institute has developed, a reference center in treatment and prevention in the area of mental health, offering psychiatry and psychology services in a multidisciplinary environment.
During the period through which he developed the Carbonell Institute, he completed a Master's Degree in Legal and Forensic Psychiatry
from the Computense University of Madrid, thus being able to offer specialized advice on psychiatric-legal issues. In fact, he is Ex-President of the Spanish Society of Legal Psychiatry.
He is currently a member of the British Medical Association, the Royal College of Psychiatrists of London, the Association of Private Psychiatry, the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Spanish Association of Geriatric Psychiatry
and the Spanish Society of Psychiatry Legal
(Ex-President). In summary, throughout these 25 years Dr. Carbonell has developed an intense training activity and in the practice of psychiatry from both a clinical and expert perspective in the private sphere.
